  • Avoid tanning and prolonged sun exposure
  • Do not arrive with sunburned, irritated or broken skin
  • Pause retinoids and exfoliating acids as directed
  • Avoid waxing and depilatory creams in the treatment area
  • Disclose recent lasers, peels, injectables or facial treatments
  • Inform your provider if you have a history of cold sores or keloid scars
  • Postpone treatment if you have an active infection or inflamed breakout

What is Microneedling?

A specialized device containing sterile, single-use needles creates thousands of controlled microchannels in the skin. These channels initiate a wound-healing response while leaving the surrounding tissue largely intact.

As the skin repairs itself, fibroblasts produce and reorganize collagen and elastin. This gradual remodelling can strengthen the skin’s supporting structure and improve visible scarring, texture and fine lines.

Customized Collagen Induction

Needle depth and treatment intensity are adjusted for different concerns and areas. Superficial texture concerns require a different approach from deeper acne scars or body stretch marks.

Microneedling is generally more effective for rolling and shallow boxcar acne scars than deep ice-pick scars. Deeper or tethered scars may require treatments such as subcision, laser resurfacing or a combination plan.

What to Expect During Treatment?

Your appointment begins with cleansing and skin preparation. A topical anesthetic is normally applied for approximately 30–45 minutes before treatment.

Once the skin is numb, the device is moved systematically across the selected areas. Clients commonly feel vibration, pressure, scratching or brief sensitivity around the forehead, nose and upper lip. A complete appointment takes approximately 90 minutes, including numbing and aftercare.

Recovery and Results

Redness, warmth and mild swelling are expected immediately after treatment. The skin may feel dry, rough or tight as it heals, with most visible redness settling within approximately 2–4 days.

Initial improvements in smoothness and radiance may appear within several weeks. More meaningful changes develop gradually as collagen remodels over approximately two to three months. A series is normally required for scarring or more significant texture concerns.

About Microneedling.

Topical anesthetic helps reduce discomfort. Most clients experience vibration, pressure, scratching or mild prickling, with greater sensitivity around bony or delicate areas.

It can improve the appearance of certain atrophic acne scars, but complete removal is unlikely. Scar type and depth determine the expected response.

Deep ice-pick scars often respond less favourably to microneedling alone. A physician may recommend another procedure or combination treatment.

Microneedling should not be performed directly over active, inflamed or infected acne because this may worsen irritation and increase infection risk. Acne may need to be controlled first.

Microneedling does not target melanin and may be appropriate for deeper skin tones.

Improved collagen support may reduce their visible appearance, but pores cannot be permanently closed or eliminated.

Yes, selected mature stretch marks may become smoother and less noticeable after a series. Results vary according to their age, depth, colour and location.

Yes. Depending on the concern, it may be used on the neck, décolleté, abdomen, thighs, arms and other selected areas.

Only medical grade products specifically selected and permitted for the clinic’s microneedling protocol should be used. Ordinary cosmetic serums should not automatically be applied through freshly created channels.

Standard microneedling creates controlled mechanical channels. RF microneedling also delivers radiofrequency heat beneath the skin and has a different risk profile. The better option depends on your concern, skin and desired recovery time.

Restart retinoids, acids and other active products only after the skin has healed and according to your provider’s instructions.

Elective microneedling is commonly postponed during pregnancy. Topical anesthetic and aftercare products also require consideration.

No. Professional devices use controlled settings, sterile needle cartridges and customized depths. At-home devices may increase the risk of irritation, infection and injury if used incorrectly.
