Advanced Dry Eye Treatment

Advanced Dry Eye Treatment

Advanced Dry Eye Treatment — treatment
Laser — in clinic

Skinfolio’s Advanced Dry Eye Treatment uses the Health Canada-approved LUVO DARWIN™ IPL and RF system to manage dry eye symptoms associated with inflammation and meibomian gland dysfunction.

The treatment combines Intense Pulsed Light and controlled thermal radiofrequency around the eyes. IPL helps reduce inflammation associated with abnormal vessels, while RF gently heats the periorbital area to help soften thickened oils within obstructed meibomian glands.

Advanced Dry Eye Treatment is available at Skinfolio Oakridge following a consultation and eye-health assessment.

What Causes Dry Eye?

Dry eye can occur when your eyes do not produce enough tears or when tears evaporate too quickly. One common cause is Meibomian Gland Dysfunction, in which the small oil-producing glands along the eyelids become blocked or do not release enough healthy oil. This can lead to burning, irritation, fluctuating vision and a persistent gritty sensation.

How IPL Helps Dry Eye?

IPL delivers controlled pulses of light to the skin surrounding the eyes. The energy helps reduce inflammation and abnormal blood vessels that may contribute to dry eye symptoms. Its warming effect can also help soften thickened oils that block the meibomian glands. IPL is clinically studied for dry eye associated with MGD.

How Radiofrequency Works?

Radiofrequency delivers controlled thermal energy around the eye area. This gentle heat helps soften blocked oils and supports healthier meibomian gland function. RF may be used alone or together with IPL, depending on your symptoms, skin type and treatment plan.

What to expect?

Your consultation begins with a review of symptoms, eye health, medical history and previous treatments. Additional dry eye testing may be required to determine whether inflammation or meibomian gland dysfunction is contributing to your symptoms.

During treatment, appropriate eye protection is applied before IPL pulses are delivered around the eyes. RF is then used to gradually warm the periorbital area. The recommended number and frequency of treatments are based on your diagnosis and response.

FAQ

Everything you need to know.

Meibomian Gland Dysfunction occurs when the oil-producing glands along the eyelids become blocked or produce poor-quality oil. Without enough healthy oil, tears evaporate more quickly, contributing to dry, irritated and watery eyes.

IPL helps manage inflammation around the eyes while warming thickened oils within the meibomian glands. RF provides controlled heat that helps soften gland blockages and support healthier oil flow. Depending on your needs, the technologies may be used individually or together.

Most clients describe the treatment as comfortable. You may feel gentle warmth during RF and brief flashes of light during IPL. Protective eye shields are used when required.

The recommended number of sessions depends on the cause and severity of your dry eye symptoms. Many treatment plans involve a series of appointments followed by maintenance, but our provider or medical professional will recommend a personalized schedule after consultation.

Some people notice improved comfort after their first few treatments, while others require a complete treatment series. Results vary based on the underlying cause, severity of symptoms and individual response.

IPL and RF address different aspects of dry eye than lubricating eye drops. Some clients may find that they rely on drops less frequently, but you should not discontinue prescribed products without speaking with your eye-care or healthcare provider.
